About this blog

I am grateful to be alive at this moment in history.  I have been very fortunate in my family and friends, and in the extremely rare opportunities I have had to live in some of the wildest places left on the planet.  My luck has mostly been not of my own making.

This blog is my attempt to share some of the beautiful things that I have experienced, and to try to communicate why I still feel optimistic despite being a scientist, an aetheist, and a conservationist.  I truly believe that it is not too late to make a difference. It is not too late to make a better world.
